Tina Riley announced a tentative agenda for the 50th Anniversary Celebration has been established. It is posted on the Alumni web site for viewing of interested parties. Tina Riley stated this would be a excellent learning experience for those interested in attending the 50th Anniversary. There will be a number of breakout sessions covering many topics and speakers. There will be faculty breakout sessions, and "career pathing" seminars by distinguished alumni. There will be receptions for alumni and friends, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and other activities. More on this can be found on the web site for the Anniversary.

Scheduled speakers are: Mark Murray, CEO Meijers; Keith Hammonds, author of "Why We Hate HR."; Lou Anna K. Simon, President, Michigan State University; Dr. Terry Curry Ph.D, Director of SLIR at MSU, several faculty members, and other distinguished guests. This will be an excellent opportunity to hear several speakers and topics of interest. These events will enhance the 50th Year Anniversary celebration and promote our School.

NEW BUSINESS ITEMS

Gordon Wilson requested a Alumni Board meeting be established after the September 30, 2006 meeting. There are not any meeting dates established for the remainder of 2006 year after the annual meeting. There was discussion concerning the need for this meeting and the establishment of a date. The meeting shall be held on October 10, 2006 at 6:00 P.M. This will allow the Board to conduct normal business operations and any last minute concerns relating to the October 25-26 50th Anniversary. This will be the LAST Board meeting for 2006 year. The next official meeting will be in January 2007; date and time to be announced. If there are any special needs concerning the Board before January, 2007, a special meeting can be convened per the By-Laws.

Flo Baerren wanted to know if the Alumni Board can establish a welcoming party or other special activity for the new students. Ms. Baerren stated we use to have a tradition of having a reception for new students or a party for graduating students. This seems to have fallen by the wayside. Discussion centered around how a party/reception would welcome new students and disseminate information to them. A motion to have a reception or party was introduced, seconded, and passed.Tina Riley will work to establish a place and time. Flo Baerren and John Van Housen will write an e-mail invitation. John Van Housen asked if it was on-site would we be obligated to have the party at a specific site or use specific vendors. Tina Riley stated if we use classrooms this could be done at no charge. Pizza or other food favorites can be obtained from any vendor. We could use the park, big painted rock near the auditorium or the river as a venue. The Board established a tentative date for a party on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at 6 P.M. The location will be announced at a further date. Announcements for the party will be established. This will give new students an opportunity to meet with the Alumni Board and get feedback on the program.

Motion to adjourn, seconded, and accepted. Meeting was terminated at 6:55 P.M.

Next Alumni Board meeting will be the ANNUAL MEETING on September 30, 2006 at the Social Science Homecoming tent at 11:00 P.M. (Start time subject to change). All interested alumni are encouraged to attend.
