LIR 811: Training and Development

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:

  • Conduct a needs assessment to prepare for training.
  • Write clear and measurable training objectives
  • Design training that addresses learner as well as organizational needs.
  • Employ and/or design active and interactive training techniques.
  • Differentiate between the various levels of evaluation, and design an evaluation process.
  • Design and develop a training program, with a complete set of Instructor guidelines, to maximize transfer of knowledge and skills to the workplace.
  • Evaluate and choose appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Critically evaluate training programs. 
  • Identify strategies for addressing organizational issues affecting training.
