This program is designed to heighten managers' level of professionalism and their ability to get work done through others. The program includes a series of pre and post assessments allowing participants to focus their learning and evaluate their progress.

Course Design
This highly-interactive program includes a variety of individual and group exercises, case studies, lecture and discussion. Participants receive a course manual and specially created textbook. Ample opportunities are provided during the week for participants to practice skill sets and develop action plans for applying what they have learned.
The learning continues after the program through an optional electronic group debrief held approximately 14 days after the conclusion of the program. The debrief includes a discussion of implementation efforts exploring what worked, what was challenging, strategies for ongoing implementation, and an exploration of how efforts are adding value to the organization. Participants will receive a self-reminder approximately 30 days after the conclusion of the program.

To be truly successful in business today, you must build and maintain professional relationships. This module examines ways to build relationships by delivering needed feedback without creating defensiveness and the disconfirmation that can lead to demotivation and decreased performance.Motivation

If you are responsible for getting work done through others, if you strive to be promoted to a higher position within your organization, or if you want to develop your professional skills for personal reasons, this program is for you.
Tina Riley is an Assistant Professor in the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Michigan State University (MSU). She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Adult and Lifelong Education as well as a Master of Arts in Labor Relations and Human Resources from MSU. She has served as the Director of the School’s Human Resources Education and Training Center and as Associate Director for Outreach. Dr. Riley has given presentations nationwide on the topics of strategic recruiting, training and development, supervisory skills and employment law. She is also a CAPT-qualified administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and has worked with many groups in developing value from differences within the workplace.
Participation in this seminar earns 36 continuing education credits towards recertification for the CHRS and CWCP programs sponsored by MSU’s School of Labor and Industrial Relations.

MSU reserves the right to cancel programs when enrollment criteria are not met or for conditions beyond its control. Any additional costs incurred by the enrollee of cancelled programs are the responsibility of the enrollee.
