Certified Labor Relations Professional (CLRP)

Why certify?

Until we started this program, no one had tried to organize the knowledge and skills one should possess to be effective as a labor relations professional. During this seminar, labor relations professionals will spend a week:
  • Learning about labor law
  • Understanding the intricacies of negotiations
  • Preparing for grievances and arbitration
  • Hearing from experts about best practices
  • Reviewing comprehensive manuals

Attendees take a comprehensive examination to evaluate their knowledge and proficiency of materials covered. Attendees will also be evaluated on their participation in certain activities during the program. Certification is earned by attending the entire program and successfully completing the examination.

The CLRP Designation

Individuals who successfully complete the course and pass the examination are recognized by Michigan State University's School of Labor and Industrial Relations as a Certified Labor Relations Professional. They are entitled to use the designation CLRP after their name.
