What is the Workers' Compensation Center?
The Workers’ Compensation Center is located in the School of Labor & Industrial Relations at Michigan State University. We teach, conduct research and write about workers’ compensation. We teach noncredit outreach courses and also participate in the Master’s Degree program of the School. The courses we offer include a national certification program for workers’ compensation professionals and a one-day introduction to Michigan workers’ compensation law.
Individuals who manage workers’ compensation for employers make up the biggest group of people that attend our programs. Insurance companies and third party administrators are also well represented. Case managers, state workers’ compensation agencies, physicians, lawyers, and rehabilitation counselors also attend.
Labor unions often send people to our general programs, and we also offer some programs that are designed especially for them.
We are able to design programs to meet special needs of specific groups. More information about our specially-designed programs is available here - Customized Courses.
